Just as Pre-Fall suggests, Pre-Spring is the in between.
Some might call it Winter, but I digress.
For me, it’s the point in the season where you’ve had it.
It’s been cold for too long and you’re tired of being pale.
It’s at this point that you need a vacation.
While I’m not sure I’ll be taking a vacation this year — simply due to all the weddings, I’ll still be requiring a few pre-spring things.
So here’s what I’m thinking…
A Good Jacket
(this could be quilted);
Some new shoes;
And a New Bag
It’s not really a season that requires new clothing, per se — your winter clothes will do just fine — but you might find that your winter jacket starts to look a bit too heavy; dare I say out of place, as the days get longer and we have more sunshine.
So, let’s get into it.
The (Car) Coat
This coat was returned the other day and I really liked it. A little big, but it had a good vibe.
It’s a men’s jacket, which is probably why I like it:
If you’d like to read about my introduction to men’s clothing, you may do so here.
This jacket is heavy, which I like — it feels like a weighted blanket — and the colour is just right.
I think this will also be really good for the cottage, if you’re having a little fire night or just simply sitting outside enjoying the scenery. It’s water-resistant; has inside pockets; and is fully lined.
Copped it on sale for a decent price.
New Shoes, Handbag…
As I’ve mentioned in my other writing, I’m rebuilding my shoe and bag collection.
I think this is the first time I’m referring to it as “rebuilding,” as opposed to just buying new shoes and purses.
#changingthenarrative
Anyway, I’m doing so one shoe and bag at a time, trying not to stress myself out about it.
1. The Shoe: Over-the-Knee
(I guess technically a boot)
I’ve had 2 previous boots from Stuart Weitzman: The Lowland in Suede and The Reserve Boot in Black Leather.
Both were great, although I’ve since given them away. Now I have an opportunity to buy a third and will not be giving these ones away.
I will say The Reserve Boot handled the rain and mild winter pretty well — so long as the snow was cleared and I didn’t trench through slush. I tend to go for SW because the last of their boots and shoes fit my feet pretty well. If you run slightly narrow or have a high arch, this might be the brand for you.
Honourable Mentions!
The Tieland Boot… definitely not snow or slush approved, but if you happen to just need a more dressed up suede/leather boot with a block heel, this one’s for you.
Personally, this time, I’m going for more of a lug sole, something that can truly handle the snow.
I’m not too into the classic winter boot style (re: UGGS, etc.), which are too casual for my liking. My schedule is kind of all over the place, so I need my boots to do overtime with the multiple occasions and locations.
» Enter: The Lowland Ultralift
While these are sold out online (old model), I’ve been able to find them resale for some very reasonable prices. There was also (and maybe still is) a 5050 Ultralift version. It’s similar to the now available Soho Boot, but the Soho has more of a heel, whereas the Lowland and 5050 Ultralift are platforms. (Also see the Soho OTK Boot.)
I imagine styling with skirts and shorts as we enter into the spring season, when the days are warmer, but the nights are still cold.
2. The Handbag
I’ve been looking for a new handbag, friends. A Louis Bag in particular and I’ve settled on the Houston Tote. Well I don’t know if it’s a “tote” bag, because it’s small… so perhaps The Houston PM? I’m not sure if it comes in a bigger size than that, lol.
I saw this bag for the first time at VSP online a while ago and I thought.. hmmm okok. I like it… it’s Yellow… that’s my favourite colour. Seemed like a match made in Louis Vuitton Heaven.
I was able to find it at another designer consignment shop — Fashionably Yours in Toronto — to see if it would fit over my shoulder (because, otherwise, what’s the point?). I remember it being slightly tight over the shoulder, but I was also wearing a heavy coat, so…
But even after not seeing it for a while, I’m still in love, so I should probably just get one.
:P
Those are my suggestions for Pre-Spring, y’all!
Of course, you can buy whatever you want… or nothing, but those are the things I’ll be getting, heading into that early time of the season.
Thank you so much for reading!
Until the next one :)
Ciao!
I love the handbag 🥹
