I’ve spent a significant amount of resources since my last post actually acquiring the things I’ve been talking about since forever it seems.
Some tomfoolery happened, which delayed several transactions, but I’m happy to say I’ve gotten back on track.
I’ll begin with those outstanding purchases, then jump into some of the new, new on my list.
Les pièces de résistance
MSGM Skort
I first mentioned this skort in my first post of the year, although it feels like talking about it for decaaaades. I think I’d just been stalking them for a while, but hadn’t actually mentioned them on here that much.
Anyway, I can confidently say that the skort has opened a Pandora’s Box of me wanting to wear more skirts and skort this summer (I usually opt for shorts).
Jury is still out on whether or not I’ll get it tailored permanently, as I’m in the process of gaining weight, so for now the pins will remain.
Also, I just have to say and it also has pockets, so *thumbs up*
Gucci Shades
words cannot express how I feel about these shades, my friends….
Lawd have mercy.
These ones I know I’ve spoken about a lot because I’ve been wanting them since last summer. Since then, they’ve gone in and out of stock… been full-price, been on sale. I found them on a few different sites, but it was like as soon as I started to talk about them (on here), the price went up. I was like, damn!
Gucci is one of my favourite brands and Yellow is my favourite colour, so you can only imagine I was gagged to find Yellow Gucci frames in this lifetime… AND cateye?!
Just, yes… get on my skin…
They’re now available at Holts (and in Black). They’re available on Gucci’s actual website in Tortoiseshell. I also found them in Pink on Grailed, in case none of those interest you.
Overall, solid purchase; I’m quite happy.
:)
Prada Lace-Ups
I’d also been eyeing these for months.
I’d mentioned a similar pair in my November Playbook, however those sold (unsurprisingly, they were beautiful), but I had a few others bookmarked, so we pressed on to these:
I’m somewhat happy the merchandising on these wasn’t that great online, because they should have sold rather quickly, imo.
They were a much better price than the original ones from the Playbook, and by the looks of the design, are from around a similar time period.
We love a resale win!
The thing I like most about these, besides the little heel, is the fact that they’re Brown!
I’ve grown tired of wearing Black all the time, although, historically, I’ve found it hard to commit to Brown; always concerned it wouldn’t hit, tbh. But it’s a neutral, so it’s not that difficult or different from styling Black.
I’m glad I’ve gotten over this fear because I feel there’s a wealth of Brown variations — which are visually interesting — whereas variations of Black are just Grey… which I also like… but you get what I’m sayin’.
But yes, another solid purchase.
More pics to come! Stay tuned for those ones!
:)
The New, New — Tops
OK! so now that those purchases are out of the way (Thank God), I can focus on getting some more tops — an area that always seems to be an afterthought for me.
I’m working on forgiving Aritzia for stealing my Pre-Spring idea………………………………….. …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
………………………………… so I can shop there again, because I quite like Aritzia tops, LOL.
honestly, couldn’t believe my eyes when I went to their website in January to see PRE-SPRING at the top of their webpage, as if that has ever been a thing.
I used to work there… I’d know…. and I seriously couldn’t help but feel like they stole my idea.
I’m not saying I INVENTED this term, but I can’t say I’d ever seen it being anywhere before, tbh. I even remember titling that article and wondering if it sounded dumb, but I liked it because it really does describe a specific time in both the seasons and seasonal wear…
anyway… it’s giving plagiarism. (screenshot taken 28th Jan, 2025 — I wrote about that sh*t in December…)
ANYWAY!
I be shoppin’ at Aritzia. I do actually like their clothing. They give the girls what they want without a fuss, mostly. I will say that Aritzia today doesn’t go as hard as Aritzia of 8-10 years ago, but I guess it’s just a sign of the times. Still, every now and then, they have a few pieces I simply cannot resist and it’s like, “dammee they got me again!”
I even remember when their website was just a lookbook with random scenic pictures (similar to the ones you see on their shoppers now or the on bags that come with their online orders — which make really great decorations if you frame them, btw).
Anyway, it’s kind of nice to see Aritzia’s come up as a Canadian retailer — you feel part of their success, because no one ever cares about Canada or anything Canada does, except for like... healthcare….
Enter, the Clerical Cardigan
We love wearing cardigans as shirts (and when I say we, my friends, I mean me and my personalities), esp. one that culminates to a V.
This one is quite nice and simple, so I’ll consider getting it in both the Matte Pearl (pictured) and Black eventually :) because… let’s be real…
I’ve learnt in this life that if I like something, I should just get it two of it, if possible:
I did so with the Manila Cardigan (also from Aritzia) — no regrets there — ditto with the Botero Sweater (but they don’t sell that one anymore).
… and, yes, before you say anything… I do own a lot of Aritzia, and even at this point, even with my minimised wardrobe, at any given time, I’m probably wearing at least one Aritzia item.
There’s also this likkle sweater vest I’m eyeing as well, but it’ll be kind of a tough sell compared to this skirt! 😭😭😭
i meeaaannnnnnnn 😍😍😍 cmon now
Thank you so much for reading!
I’m pretty happy to be back on schedule again. It was a little touch’n’go there for a second when I had to spend money on other things/people unrelated to what I have going on and it actually threw me off and really affected the whole vibe.
Honestly it was a blessing in disguise, because a lot of the things I bought went on further discount in the time I had to wait so… *thumbs up, again*
I still need a few more clothes for work, especially heading into Spring, but I actaully want to start saving some money (big LOL), so we’ll see where that takes us. The skirt-cardigan combination will be a good one for work, so I’ve I can press that out by the end of the month, we’ll be ok!
It’s been a while since I’ve had a traditional job in the Spring/Summer months (that wasn’t on a farm), so I don’t have many clothes for everyday/for a 9-5 job, so that is a priority.
The dress code at work prohibits shorts, but skirts are allowed, so you’ll see me testing that out from now.
I’ve seen a lot of fashion skorts coming onto the market (as in not your regula, degula tennis skirts or athletic skort); it’ll be interesting to see what’s available as we gear up and head into real summer.
I’d like to get at least one skirt/skort for each day of the week and create a uniform for myself.
One less thing to worry about.
Until the next one!
Ciao!
